It is surprisingly light and has a distinctive dark brown colour. The grain is often wavy and comes to a fine finish on your handmade urn.

Australian Blackbutt

Blackbutt is a well known Australian native timber, with a range of indoor and outdoor uses. Blackbutt is often a uniform straw blonde colour with beautiful yellow highlights. A fairly hard timber, it has an even texture and straight grain. Blackbutt is a sustainable, classic Australian timber for any urn design.

Australian Chestnut is sustainably harvested from several different Eucalypt species. This timber is prized for its unique markings caused by bushfires, environmental conditions and insects. We source wood that showcases these markings, giving your urn a visible history of the individual tree. No two pieces of Australian Chestnut are alike, with colour ranging from straw to mid brown.

One of our most diverse timbers, Spotted Gum can range from light to deep brown or red, with occasional grey flecks across the face. Tasmanian Blackwood is a sustainably produced, fine timber with diverse colouring. The timber can range from a pale white to golden hue, that runs into a deep dark brown or even black. Where possible, we use the darker heartwood for its stunning colouration. When brought to a fine finish in your handmade urn, Tasmanian Blackwood is a beautiful choice.
