Sizing and fitting

Will my ashes container fit inside the urns?

We have carefully designed and manufactured each funerary urn to hold the standard ash containers used in Australia. However, some medium and pet sized ash containers can vary in size. Please check the internal measurements of your urn before purchase to ensure your ash container will fit correctly (see below).

How do I place the ashes in my urn?

  1. Find a flat, stable work surface and place a clean towel over it to protect your urn.
  2. Turn your urn upside down carefully and place it on your work surface.
  3. Remove the screws in the bottom plate of your urn. Set them aside safely.
  4. Remove the timber base plate from your urn. Place it in a position that will allow you to remember its correct orientation, for easier reattachment.
  5. Place the plastic ashes container inside the urn. Please ensure the ashes container lid is secured with tape or glue to avoid spills.
  6. Reposition the base plate in the same orientation it was removed from, and re-fix the screws.

Construction and use

Are plaques available?

Yes. If you would like to personalise your urn, simply go through the plaque customisation options in our checkout. Your plaque will be shipped separately so that your urn will arrive promptly.

Are the urns suitable for outdoor use?

No. While we do use some varieties of timber that are suitable for outdoor use, some of the consumables used in manufacturing are not resistant to water. We recommend they are displayed indoors only.

Do you outsource manufacturing?

No. All manufacturing is completed here at our premises. The only outsourcing we use is for producing our plaques at a local small business.

How long does shipping take?

Delivery times vary depending on location. Please see our Shipping policy for approximate delivery times.

Do you accept returns?

Yes. If you are not satisfied with your product please read our Returns policy and contact us.

Our timbers

What timber do you use?

We use high quality Australian hardwoods and overseas timbers. See our list of timbers here.

Is your timber sustainable?

Absolutely. All our timber, regardless of species, is sourced through a reputable Australian supplier that guarantees consistency in certification and sustainability.

Do you use timber that is pre-machined?

No. Our timber is purchased ‘rough sawn’. Our premises has machinery that processes the timber, making it suitable for use. We also ensure that the timber is ready for manufacture by using a moisture sensor.

Hardware and other materials

What hardware do you use?

We use fasteners from a North American company that has been making screws since the early 20th Century. These fasteners are chosen for their high quality and are sourced from an Australian distributor.

We also offer stainless steel screws and tamper proof fasteners upon request.

What types of adhesives do you use?

We use a variety of adhesives ranging from cross linking PVA to two-part epoxy. Some specialist applications may require a contact adhesive. All our adhesives are of the highest quality.

What finishes do you offer?

Our finishing products are Australian made using only the best quality ingredients. They have been designed to highlight each timber’s natural features and beauty. We apply a clear pre-sealer followed by two coats of a premium lacquer.

We generally shy away from stains as they detract from the natural beauty and colours of the timber species we use.

What about other consumables?

We strive to use Australian service providers where possible for all our consumables.
